Back pain is relatively common among Americans. Approximately 80% of us will suffer from some type of back pain throughout our lives. The most frequent form of back pain is lower back pain because of the sensitive nature of the particular spine area. Lower back pain can grow for a variety of reasons. Knowing the symptoms of lower back pain is critical to ensure treatment is given before chronic pain issues develop. Here are some of the most frequent indications of lower back pain issues:
Our experience provides you with the highest quality chiropractic care. We know that every back pain patient has different conditions and different needs, which is why our chiropractic treatment programs are designed around your specific pain conditions.

The lower back is one of the most common locations of chronic pain and is one of the more common conditions we treat at Advanced Wellness & Rehab. Our lower back treatments consist of advanced techniques to alleviate the pain and correct the misalignment and the underlying cause.
Lower back pain is among the most common chronic conditions we treat at Advanced Wellness & Rehab in Wichita, Kansas. The rib cage supports and secures the spine in the thoracic region, but the lower back vertebrae have no such support system. Although this makes the lower back exceptionally mobile, it also makes it more prone to suffer from a misalignment or harm. Our lower back treatments in Wichita consist of innovative techniques that will relieve your pain and correct misalignment and underlying cause, like a pinched nerve, which can produce several other conditions.
As we said before, back pain may result from countless factors. Simple day-to-day actions such as sitting down and improperly lifting items can bring on pain in the lower back. Here are some of the most frequent causes of lower back pain.
MYOFASCIAL PAIN – Among the more prevalent reasons for lower back pain, myofascial pain is long-lasting pain that impacts the connective tissue (fascia) of muscles.
MUSCLE STRAIN – Muscles may become tight and get small rips from overuse and strain. This strain may become a longstanding state if not adequately treated.
HERNIATED AND BULGING DISCS – Discs that act as cushions between the vertebrae of the spine can “slip” location and even burst, causing herniation, resulting in severe nerve pain.
ARTHRITIS/OSTEOARTHRITIS – The breakdown of cartilage in the small disc joints that the spinal column has in the back can cause the space to narrow around the spinal cord.
DEGENERATIVE DISC DISEASE – Natural aging and breakdown of the spinal discs, the discs may lose their cushioning, resulting in lower back pain.
OBESITY – Excessive weight on the body may cause improper movement patterns, poor posture, and extra pressure and stress on the lower back.
SCIATICA – Disc herniation or traumatic impact can put pressure on the sciatic nerve, resulting in sharp and shooting pains. This pain typically runs through the hip and down the legs.
IMPROPER POSTURE/SLEEPING POSITION – this can lead to pain and strain in the muscles and imbalances in the lower back.
Occasionally, lower back pain may signal a more serious medical issue. Pain accompanied by fever or loss of bladder or bowel control, pain when coughing, and progressive weakness in the legs can suggest a more severe condition. If you are experiencing these symptoms, please get in touch with us as soon as possible. People with diabetes may experience severe lower back pain or pain radiating down their leg that is related to Neuropathy, and people with these symptoms should contact our practice right away to minimize the chance of long-term damage.

Most generally, upper back pain is associated with a muscle injury, a strain, or myofascial pain; in many cases, this pain may be corrected through trigger point therapy.
Another common culprit of upper back pain is a joint dysfunction or inflammation that chiropractic adjustments may treat. Adjustments help mobilize the joints, stretch the spine and shoulders, and reduce pain.
Upper back pain treatments can vary for particular conditions. If you’re suffering from upper back pain, contact Advanced Wellness & Rehab today and get upper back pain relief.

It’s the most significant and longest nerve in your body—and when inflamed, it’s impossible to ignore.
When the sciatic nerve is irritated, it can cause pain that radiates from your lower spine down the back of your leg. It may be a dull, constant ache or a sharp, burning pain.

Sciatica is a symptom of an underlying medical condition, such as a bulging or herniated disc, degenerative disc disease, or spinal misalignment. Advanced Wellness & Rehab offers safe, non-surgical procedures that treat the root causes of Sciatica, not just the symptoms.
During your visit, we’ll give you a thorough chiropractic examination, orthopedic and neurological tests, and X-rays.
This will help us identify compression issues in your spine, misaligned or degenerative discs, muscle issues, and more. From there, we’ll create a detailed plan to heal your spine through chiropractic adjustments, therapeutic exercises, and spinal decompression.
We use a variety of treatment options that can help manage your painful symptoms of Sciatica:

Advanced Wellness & Rehab provides a non-surgical medical breakthrough in treating Bulging, Degenerated, and Herniated Discs, called Spinal Decompression Therapy, DRX9000. We offer a comprehensive solution to those who suffer from chronic pain.
Our spine comprises vertebrae, individual bones in the back separated by spinal discs. These spinal discs are included in an interior jelly-like fluid. The discs have a squishy and rubbery consistency but are shielded with a more rigid exterior. The discs support the vertebrae and allow for cushion and “sponginess” between the spinal joints. This cushion enables the vertebrae to move and operate correctly within the spinal column to absorb impact and pressure.
The discs can occasionally become traumatized by an impact or injury. The disc may become inflamed and pressure the surrounding nerves across the spinal cord. This is known as a slipped disc or bulging disc and may cause pain and distress in the back. Occasionally, these discs can burst open due to pressure and create a herniation or tear in the disc. As a result, nearby nerves can be subjected to pressure in the disc, creating pain as they get pinched or spill out from the spinal column. This pain in the back may be accompanied by numbness and weakness in the limbs.
It is feasible to have a herniated disc and not know about it, but most herniated discs are extremely painful. The most frequent signs and symptoms are listed here:
BACK PAIN – Pain caused by the herniated or bulging disc that puts pressure on nerves in the back.
PAIN IN THE REAR – Herniated discs in the lower back (the most common area) often result in shooting pain through the buttock area.
ARM OR LEG PAIN – Herniated discs could pressure the nerves, causing pain in the arms and legs. If the sciatic nerve is compressed, it is possible that you can feel pain in the hip and down the leg towards the knee.
NUMBNESS OR TINGLING – Individuals with a herniated disc can experience numbness or tingling in the body from the affected nerves.
WEAKNESS – Muscles close to the compressed nerves of the herniated discs could often feel weak.
Many people have trouble identifying the exact reason or cause of a disc herniation. This is why it is essential to contact a pain management expert to identify your pain. Once the source of your pain has been determined, proper treatment can be applied. Some common causes of herniated discs are:
DEGENERATING DISC DISEASE – Gradual aging and wear-and-tear of the disc. Over time, the disc becomes feeble, hence restricting flexibility making it prone to slip out of place or rupture.
IMPROPER USE OF MUSCLES – Utilizing the back to lift heavy objects instead of the legs or performing twisting movements with the back.
TRAUMATIC IMPACT – Although uncommon, occasionally, the force of impact from an accident or injury may cause the discs in the back to slip or rupture.
REPETITIVE MOVEMENT – The exact movement patterns repeated often can wear down the discs in the back, leading to herniation.
The back is a powerful part of the body, but improper care of the back and insufficient treatment after an injury can lead to debilitating pain later in life. Look after your back and be mindful of your posture. Exercise the back muscles frequently, ice down injuries, and rest if your back becomes sore or injured. This advice can decrease the possibility of having a herniated disc.
Disc herniation is a critical condition. If you’re experiencing severe back pain, our chiropractic physicians and therapists at Advanced Wellness & Rehab can help. We will help you find the root of your pain and use proper treatments for safe and effective pain relief.
