NECK PAIN

Neck pain is an extremely frequent occurrence in today’s society since many of us spend hours a day hunched over a computer or workstation. This position can raise your shoulders out of alignment and, over time, create muscular imbalances that can lead to neck and shoulder pain. Wear and tear arthritis may also become a typical cause of neck pain.

Neck pain can start mild, but if not properly treated, it could grow into a more severe condition, such as symptoms of shooting pain. Sometimes, numbness and loss of strength in our arms and hands can develop.

NECK PAIN CAN OCCUR FROM:

REPETITIVE MOTION – Always sitting at a computer utilizing the mouse and keyboard in a hunched-over position or leaning forward in a car while driving for hours can lead to muscle strains in your neck.

AGE – Age contributes to worn-out joints, and over time, repetitive motions can weaken your joints and lead to neck pain.

INJURIES – Sports injuries, car accidents, and even work-related accidents may lead to neck pain if too much stress is applied to your neck.

MUSCLE STRAINS – This can appear from repetitive movements, sudden unexpected motions, or sleeping with your neck in a particular position, which can cause muscle strains in your neck and shoulders.

COMPRESSED AND HERNIATED DISCS – Nerve compression in the neck and back may develop into neck pain and soreness if not appropriately treated.

NECK PAIN TREATMENTS

SPINAL DECOMPRESSION – Spinal decompression can alleviate pinched nerves in your back that cause pain in your back and into your neck and shoulders.

MASSAGE THERAPY – Massaging and stretching the muscles of your neck and remove tension, pain, and stress. Massage increases blood flow to your muscles, helps to promote flexibility, and enables your neck to function correctly. Trigger point massage can also relieve painful trigger points in the neck.

SPINAL ADJUSTMENTS – Routine spinal adjustments set the body in proper posture alignment and help alleviate your muscle strain.

SHOULDER PAIN IN WICHITA

Shoulder pain is a common issue for many of the patients we see at Advanced Wellness & Rehab. Shoulder pain typically comes from several inherent conditions. Dysfunctions, including rotator cuff abnormalities and inflammatory pain, may cause shoulder pain. Muscle spasms and joint arthritis can also cause shoulder pain. Our chiropractic physicians and therapists will properly discover the root of your shoulder pain and apply the best-suited treatment for your pain.

REASONS FOR SHOULDER PAIN:

ROTATOR CUFF INJURY – The rotator cuff is a rather delicate and injury-prone region; muscles and tendons in the rotator cuff are usually quite frail. The slightest motions, such as reaching behind your seat in a car or lifting a weighted object the wrong way, can activate tears and stress in the area, which may cause extreme pain.

BRACHIAL PLEXOPATHY -This syndrome describes pain and weakness related to compression of the brachial plexus, a large grouping of nerves going from your neck into your arms. The brachial plexus may become injured by contraction of muscles, trauma, bone, tumor, or inflammation, and movement of your neck and shoulders can worsen the pain symptoms.

TENNIS ELBOW – This is a painful condition that happens when tendons in your elbow are overworked, usually by repetitive motions of the wrist and arm.

CARPAL TUNNEL SYNDROME – (CTS) refers to a frequent, particular pattern of hand discomfort, numbness, or paresthesia (burning discomfort) that occurs along the palm into the fingers and wrist.

ARTHRITIS – Joint degeneration, inflammation, and stiffness may cause shoulder pain.

FROZEN SHOULDER – Stiffness and pain in your shoulder joint. Signs and symptoms usually start slowly and can worsen over time. Your risk of developing a frozen shoulder increases if you are recovering from a medical condition or procedure that affects the mobility of your arm — such as a stroke or a mastectomy.

SHOULDER PAIN TREATMENT

Once diagnosed, we supply you with optimal treatments to assist your condition and bring you out of pain as soon as we can. Here are some of our treatment options:

SPINAL ADJUSTMENTS – Routine spinal adjustments put your body in proper posture alignment and help to relieve muscle strain.

SPINAL DECOMPRESSION – Pinch nerves in the neck and shoulders can be relieved through the treatment of spinal decompression.

MASSAGE THERAPY – Massaging and stretching the muscles can relieve pain and tension in the neck, shoulder, arm, and hand muscles. Massage increases blood flow to the muscles and helps to promote flexibility in the body’s strained areas, allowing proper function. Also, over time, massage therapy works to bring the body into proper posture position, which prevents future pain and can eliminate the risk of certain conditions.

The chiropractic physicians and therapists at Advanced Wellness & Rehab provide high-quality treatments for shoulder pain. Do not suffer from pain; receive safe & effective pain relief.

ELBOW PAIN

Elbow pain has been given friendly names like Tennis Elbow and Golfer’s Elbow. But anyone who has ever suffered from elbow pain knows it is far from pleasant. Dr. Roy is prepared to diagnose and treat any elbow condition you may have.

ELBOW PAIN RELIEF

Elbow pain can be an annoyance. Constant pain when moving the joint can affect your daily activities and keep you from not only doing what you love but may also keep you from accomplishing needed work and tasks.

Many times, elbow pain is not a sign of a severe condition, but if the elbow pain is consistent, it can begin to affect your life negatively. Many clinics will want to use highly invasive procedures that can be expensive and unnecessary. If you have elbow or joint pain, we offer treatments to help reduce pain, increase mobility, and strengthen muscles around your joint.

THERAPEUTIC RECONDITIONING FOR ELBOW PAIN

Therapeutic reconditioning for those struggling with elbow pain addresses the source of your pain without the need for medication or surgery. Our Therapists will develop a customized treatment plan to relieve your elbow pain and restore mobility. The most common elbow pain injuries that are adequately treated with therapeutic reconditioning are:

  • TENNIS ELBOW
  • GOLFER’S ELBOW
  • BURSITIS/ARTHRITIS
  • FRACTURES
  • NERVE INJURY
  • LIGAMENTOUS INJURY

Our therapists at Advanced Wellness & Rehab treat patients using evidence-based techniques that speed recovery time while reducing the risk of painful recurrence in your elbow. Some of our standard treatments include:

  • MANUAL THERAPY DECREASES PAIN, INCREASES RANGE OF MOTION, AND IMPROVES FUNCTION.
  • THERAPEUTIC EXERCISES TO STRENGTHEN MUSCLES THAT WILL IMPROVE FUNCTIONAL MOVEMENT PATTERNS.
  • FUNCTIONAL EXERCISES THAT ARE TAILORED TO YOUR NORMAL ACTIVITY LEVEL.
  • SELF-MANAGEMENT EDUCATION TO REDUCE THE CHANCE OF INJURY OR PAIN RECURRENCE.

TENNIS ELBOW

Tennis elbow is a common name for lateral epicondylitis and is a type of elbow tendonitis. It is caused by the overuse of muscles and tendons in your forearm muscles. Tennis elbow is the term used for this ailment because it is a common injury due to the repetitive motions of playing tennis. The pain starts minimal and increases so that shaking hands or squeezing an object is extremely painful. Therapeutic reconditioning treatments include:

  • RESTING AND ICING YOUR ARM.
  • MASSAGING.
  • MANIPULATING YOUR ELBOW JOINT.
  • EXERCISES TO HELP HEAL YOUR ELBOW PAIN.

GOLFER’S ELBOW

Like tennis elbow, a golfer’s elbow is caused by repetitive motions. However, golfing moves your arms differently, so the injury is inside your elbow. Several other professions are also at risk for this injury, including carpenters. Our treatments for golfer’s elbow are similar to treating tennis elbow pain.

If you suffer from elbow pain, do not hesitate to call our clinic. The longer the condition goes untreated, the more significant the potential for irreversible damage. At Advanced Wellness & Rehab, we will diagnose your elbow pain and treat the causes at the source so you not only receive pain relief but it lasts.

ELBOW BURSITIS

Bursitis is an inflammation of your bursa sac, which is the shock absorber for your joint. The bursa for your elbow is located at the end tip of your elbow, between your skin and bones. Unlike golfer’s elbow and tennis elbow, bursitis is caused by trauma, extended pressure, and arthritis. If you leave bursitis untreated, you will develop the inability to move it completely. Our Therapists will use ice, ultrasounds, and therapeutic and functional exercises to help treat your elbow bursitis.

CARPAL TUNNEL

When you suffer from wrist pain or numbness in your hand, it may be because ligaments and tendons running through the carpal tunnel are swollen and pressing on the nerve. At Advanced Wellness & Rehab, we provide personalized care to diagnose and treat your carpal tunnel syndrome.

CARPAL TUNNEL TREATMENT WICHITA

Carpal tunnel syndrome is created by pressure placed on the median nerve of the wrist, which runs from the forearm to the palm. This is generally caused by repetitive movements of flexing and extending the wrist in daily activities or during sleep. Over time, this repetitive movement begins. For many individuals, carpal tunnel syndrome will start as a tingling numbness in the wrist while working at a computer desk. The condition can worsen into sharp pains if untreated.

Remember, treatment done earlier rather than later will prevent permanent damage to the nerve and assure a more complete recovery. Careful attention to your specific needs will help solve your carpal tunnel problem quickly.

To treat carpal tunnel syndrome, we must be able to diagnose any problems from the hand up to the neck. The first thing we want to know is where the problem starts for you. We will examine you and decide if you need any diagnostic tests, such as X-rays, ultrasound, and EMG nerve testing. After the examination and any necessary tests are done, we will offer you options. Some people do require surgery and physical therapy. Others are not bad enough for surgery and will recover well with therapeutic reconditioning and chiropractic adjustments. A typical program may last six weeks.

Carpal tunnel syndrome treatment may include therapies to reduce swelling and promote healing. Soft tissue massage can open the carpal tunnel and restore normal tissue. Exercise is a great way to encourage the growth of high-quality scar tissue and increase your ability to do things in life again without creating more problems. We are also anxious to discover and teach you what you can change to prevent Carpal Tunnel Syndrome from returning.
